Basically I'm just bad at the internet.

An assignment for my Advance Painting class. We have to do six square panels that are bigger than 12 inches by 12 inches but smaller than 30 inches by 30 inches, and also abstracted non-representational. What. It’s a struggle. They’re due on Tuesday, so I have a lot of work to do. Hopefully my shame will be small and my ego replenished for my next update.

It's been sort of fun. I am both amused and frustrated by my professor's disapproval of my methods. Mostly I want to say: I have a process, alright, trust me, I know what I'm doing. But I really have no idea what I'm doing. I only /sometimes/ have an idea of what I'm doing. I'm not going to lie, I daydream about being at the local fine arts school with my friends and just drawing genitals on everything. Hey, it works for them. Who doesn't like a good, happy yoni staring up at them.

Cleaning the studio: part one

I am organizing my studio. After being absent for three months, I've forgotten where I kept some things and how much I had of other things. It's nice to be back into my own little space. I'll put up pictures as I sort things around and make it into a respectable bachelor's pad artist studio.

Photobucket

I bought a new plant for my studio. Her name is Josie and she is beautiful. When she grows a bit more I'll draw her portrait.

Photobucket
Ignore the two on the bottom left, they are from 2008 and -- useless. During the last school term I worked a lot with small scale spray painting. They were aquatic in theme and the use of color is inexcusable except for the fact that I keep refusing to purchase colors that aren't fluorescent or eyesores.

Photobucket

And a piece I neglected to put up when it was made. A dry point self portrait. Because I like self portraits. I made it during the beginning of the year out of plexiglass and wrist hurting patience. I like how it came out.

a painting!

The assignment was to do an underpainting with glazes, so that's what I did. I -- like it ok.

Hotel
18x24 acrylic on canvas.
7 hours.

Photobucket

I want to finish it up either by building up more glazes (on the entire thing) or going over it with paint. I am a fan of the translucently; I am not a fan at the fact that mistakes are harder to correct (i.e. having to glaze over the mistakes in at least 5 steps). Still, I'm happy with it. I hadn't done glazing before. My favorite part to paint was his thumb.

what sort of business is this!

They're all works in progress, man, but for now, we'll say they're so-so done. Yeah?
Diptych. Dream Series.
Copy. Modigliani's sitting nude.
Still Life. But I cheated and painting the classroom.

Hello December

A final project I have to finish is a copy-painting. I was suppose to pick a known artist/painter, and copy one of their works. I picked A. C. Modigliani and his painting Sitting Nude.
It's not finished yet. But you can still see how I'm failing. But it's still a fun project. I'm rather fond of it. It's a shame it's a copy.

Woah-ho

This totally makes up for the past few days. So, I'm kind of cheating since this is all for my painting class. The one on the right is just an exercise one, where I'm suppose to goof around and try different techniques. I learned how to transfer images! Woo! But anyway.
So this totally brings me up to date, ok? We all agree? Yes? Yes? Good!

how many more days?

Hahah, I failed so fast.
It's hard to post on nights when I have classes. I get home and I crash.
So, today you get two post.
And I'll just do that for every night I miss.
I really dig this, err, being. Whatever they are, I'm down with it.
Baskets! For apples! For October! Yeah. It was for class. Whatever. I like apples.

Three nights down! 28 more to go! \o/

Octo-1

One art post a day for the entire month of October. Good challenge, right? October to me does not = spooky. October = purple, tea, piano lessons, and wet toes, octopus.
