Woman of Many Name

I have been drawing today, but it's secret work. And anyway they're preliminary sketches.
So there's this amazing writer out there who, in this case, is writing this enticing story about a world where organizations run mysterious operations, and angels and demons aren't quite at war with each other. Rich imagery at every turn, practically, as is her calling card. These pictures, which really don't do anything justice, were done for her, because seriously, I don't think any decent artist could resist her vivid scenes. They're how I see her characters. Or something. Anyway you should look her up. Livejournal link. She's amazing.

I just realized that when I draw for this story I use MS Paint. Hahahah. Weird?

What New Titles

concept fanart

I maybe like this one too much. I feel guilty when I look at something I did too favorably. It feels like a conceit, almost, but it's much more favorable than the constant 'not good enough' gloom that appears with other projects, so I'm not terribly apologetic.

The problem with working on a laptop, or specifically my laptop, is that the image I see isn't consistent on other computers. It looks saturated and heavy on one computer, and terribly underexposed on another. So. I'll eventually figure out how to deal with that. Hah. Ha.

^ btw I wrote all that two weeks ago and saved in 'draft' for the rainy day that I had to share something. Anyway, my feelings have changed a bit since the infatuated state. What a bother! Well. I guess I'll have to work on something that can be my new favorite. Tsk.

Anyway, Havod and an Angel about to be eaten. Concept drawing. Fanart. A bunch of things in one. They belong, justly, to thebutlerdidit at lj.

lets just say there's no title

A favorite artist of mine had a birthday...a month or so ago, and I wanted to draw them something. Because I do that. Anyway, as you can see, it's not actually 100% done. I fail at flat coloring. And the face and hair are a mess. But I dig the anatomy. Although maybe there is something wrong with that too and I just can't see it yet. I AM DISTRESSED BY THIS NEWS.

What the hell is she sitting on, you ask? Well. Air, obviously. She is sitting on top of air. And it is quite comfortable. She is Sumeria, a character by Joteivv at Deviantart. Of course, she looks nothing like her. But that will be changed, sooner or later!

A little bit ago [Edited]

I don't think I ever gave this a title. So:
Align Center
Untitle 2007

There is something about this picture that disturbs me a lot. When the picture started out it was suppose to be an aggressive sexual thing: Ricky, the boy on the left, looming over a passive Gene, the boy on the right. And it ended up, months later, with a completely different feeling. Almost fragile, I think, in the curled embrace. And it fits better, I think, but sometimes it still catches me off guard.

I drew it from a story called Close Your Eyes, Ricky Depalma by Jeoal, found at fictionpress.com. The author is pretty rad.

finalmente (final mind)

I can't decide which one I like best--the color v. or the B&W one.
Regardless I'm pretty happy with it. I think my friend will be happy with it as well... or I will have to do horrible things to her if she is not. Honestly I've never seen a single episode of Naruto (that's a lie, I did see it one time when I was 14, but it had the horrible English voices and I blocked it from my memory.) But I totally love to see the fanworks for it. <3

artblock from hell, come eat my cake, it's not like I want it anyway

Naruto WIP #3.
Full view for best of WIP.

Art block: It's not a lack of ideas or even motivation. It's an inability to express the simplest things. Everything seems so lifeless, boring, stiff. Ugly. Maybe I should just draw a million flying saucers and hope that it'll get me out of the funk. Well maybe only a couple dozen little flying saucers. With little guns and little beaming rays. And maybe they can steal a Pope or something.

WIP Naruto: Why Not

Some time ago I was chatting with my friend S.. See, S. and I often have little playful arguments. She'll bring up something stupid I did in the past (or recently) and I'll deny it and make sad sounds at the phone to her. Usually the sad sounds just make her laugh. Anyway, so this one time she might have said something like, I bet I can make you cry. And I said, yeah, whatever.
Predictably she has me sobbing defeat (sobbing with laughter) minutes later.

-OK,
I say, What do you want?

-She pauses to think. Draw me Naruto.

-Yeah, I can do that, no problem.
And thus I did attempt.

Of course the first sketch I did of it came out horrible. Seriously. It was hideous. But my S. is a good friend and she said, 'I really like it. It's very you.' Which, come to think of it, hmmmm, maybe it wasn't a compliment at all. Huh.

Well since I am in the throws of another art block (ok, maybe not so much art block as pure, unfiltered laziness) I decided to try again, but digitally!

It's not actually finished. But it's getting there. Sort of. Maybe one day. Possibly.
